    My First Birdie

(Dedication: To my Dad and Grandad for teaching me to love the game of golf) It was around 8:45 a.m. when I was walking onto hole number six at the Lewisburg Recreation Center. It was a little foggy and the grass was wet. I was playing pretty good golf, but I didn't truly think that I was going to get my first birdie on this tricky hole. I walked up to the tee box and I teed up my ball. I hoped to hit it between two rows of trees but before a ditch. I did a few practice swings then I stepped up and BOOM, a great shot, but it was just a tiny bit to the right. Next, I did a few practice swings then I swung at it with my three wood and WHAM, an awesome shot, but it went over the green. Finally, we got to the green and I got out my wedge. I planned where to hit it, then swung and hit it exactly where I wanted it to land. It rolled and rolled, then it might, and YES it made it. All I could hear were the cheers from the other golfers congratulating me. I had finally got my first birdie. Davis George, age 10
